WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure to create fuller more defined brows specifically tailored to each client. A stylist uses a pen-like tool to create small individual strokes in your skin. After pigment is added, these strokes mimic natural hairs. Microblading is perfect for those who are looking to enhance their brow density, or change their eyebrow shape.
BEFORE YOUR SERVICE
The result of microblading is directly linked to the health of the skin underlying your brows. Help us create the perfect conditions for the best results by AVOIDING the following:
Retin A skincare products (30 days prior to and after microblading)
Botox (2 weeks prior to procedures)
Brow Tint (2 weeks prior to procedure prior to and after microblading)
Brow Waxing or Tweezing
Facial Peels (two weeks prior)
Tanning or Sunburn
Blood thinners are a contraindicator to Microblading. Bleeding during the service makes it more difficult for your stylist to navigate and also can water down the pigments being introduced, Some common blood thinners include:
Alcohol (two days prior)
Coffee (day of)
Wear your normal makeup to your appointment. We want to craft a brow that not only compliments your face but looks like “you.”
Wash your hair before you arrive, we ask you don’t wash your hair again until at least two days after your treatment.
Your first appointment will take approximately two hours from start to finish. Your stylist will consult with you on design, shape and color prior to completing the treatment and will send you off with all you need to know to support the healing process.
THE HEALING PROCESS AND AFTERCARE
Your new eyebrows will go through several phases during the healing cycle. The pigment will appear very natural looking immediately after the procedure followed by:
The color of the pigment will appear much darker the next day or so.
After the first week your brows May seem to fade or ‘dissapear’ as they heal and possibly develop micro-scabs.
Week 3-4 will be a phase of “blooming color” as the skin is healed and the color surfaces and looks beautiful.
The final pigment and look of your eyebrows will be apparent approximately 6-8 weeks after your first appointment.
A perfecting session at 8 weeks will be done so we can adjust the shape and density to perfection.
Although aftercare may vary by skin type, in general the following is advised:
Do not wash your hair for the first 2 days after
Do not get brows wet for 2 weeks
Keep moisturized for the first week with Aquaphor morning and night, use a sterile swab to apply.
The second week dry heal, refrain from the need to pick or touch the area as it may lift the pigment. The affected skin will fall off naturally on its own. A slight tapping may be done with the fingertips if itching occurs as the brows heal.
If an overproduction of lymph or buildup appears the first 2 days a gentle wash with fingertips and sterile water may be done, then aquaphor reapplied.
No products or makeup should be put on the area for the first 2 weeks.
14 DAYS POST TREATMENT PLEASE AVOID
Increased sweating (sports and working out included!)
Hot sauna, hot bath, jacuzzi, swimming, extended showers or baths
Sun tanning or salon tanning, anything exposing you to extended UV/UVA exposure

EIGHT WEEK PERFECTING SESSION
Your eight week touch up is an opportunity for your stylist to answer any questions you have and make any adjustments needed. This touch up is complimentary, lasts an hour and a half and is a great opportunity for us to answer any questions you may have or make adjustments after you’ve lived in your brows for a while. We want to make sure you’re happy and your brows are perfect.
IS MICROBLADING THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU?
What makes microblading unique from brow tattooing is the levels and placement of the ink being more shallow. This results in a more natural appearance. Because microblading strokes are fine, they will fade, most often between one to three years, varying from client to client.
” Is it painful?”… Some clients report small levels of discomfort, but this is rare and depends on each individual. For each appointment, we build 30 minutes of anesthetic processing time to make sure you are protected from too much discomfort.
WHEN WE WON’T SERVICE YOUR BROWS
You are pregnant. We just do not want to risk an infection when you are carrying something so precious. Come and see us to put some pep in your step once your bundle has arrived and you are done breastfeeding.
You are prone to keloids. We want your brows to heal nicely and patients prone to keloids could end up with keloids being a central focus on your face. Also, the color is less likely to stick, both things we all want to avoid.
You are undergoing chemotherapy or have within the past six months. Call us once six months have passed and your immunity is robust.
You have dark pre-existing eyebrow tattoo or permanent makeup. Microblading requires we are able to simulate individual hairs, if the brows are too dark this wouldn’t be possible. In some cases a consultation may be performed to assess the situation.
You have any kind of skin condition on or near your eyebrows. Some skin conditions include eczema, shingles, rashes, or anything else near your eyebrows.
You are under the age of 18. SF Microblading does not perform any services on people under 18, even with parental consent.
